I quit those days and my redneck ways...Not racist agaisnt white cats. The lyricist, Bernie Taupin, is a white cat. The cat in question is actually a hick or a redneck from the "woods." The title of the album Chateau has been thought to be code for White House and mad Man Across the Water was thought to imply Richard Nixon.
